Weschenfelder is run by Tim and Robert Weschenfelder, the fourth and fifth generation Weschenfelder since Ludwig came here many years ago. Weschenfelder has been operating the sausage making business since 1921. Ludwig Wiesenfeld came to England from Nuremberg in 1898 and became a butcher apprentice in Middlesbrough, working with his uncle. Before the First World War, Ludwig used the skills passed down by his German family to enter the sausage casing industry. During the First World War, he worked as an intern at the Isle of Man. After his release in 1921, he returned to Middlesbrough to give the start-up company a firm foothold. Ten years ago, their first website launched and opened up new markets in the UK and abroad. Now they offer a wide range of sausage making equipment, casings, seasonings and expertise to professional users both domestically and internationally.
