TCC Bookstore was chartered in Connecticut in 1969 to serve the Bristol-New Britain and Farmington Valley regions. It first started in June 1970, when there were 494 students; today, approximately 7,000 full-time and part-time students are enrolled in the college every semester, taking credits and continuing education courses. However Tunxis is still small enough to provide students with personal attention. Since graduating for the first time in 1972, more than 8,000 people have received an associate degree or certificate from the college. Tunxis provides a series of educational services designed to meet the training, professional, intellectual and cultural needs of the people in the region. The college strives to provide services to all those who wish to develop knowledge and skills; it does so by making its services accessible and supporting them through the quality of its faculty and staff. Tunxis' business philosophy is that learning can best be accomplished by evaluating current skills and knowledge, determining educational goals, determining the appropriate balance between learning and other responsibilities, and participating in an educational process that meets personal goals.
