Rhoads Garden,founded in 1939 by Walter Rhodes and William Luckens, originally sold tomatoes from a roadside stand in north Wales, Pennsylvania. In 1963 it was expanded to include nurseries, bedding plants, and retail areas. When Luckens died in 1969, Rhodes's sons, Tom and Dave, began working there and took over as President and vice President in 1974. A flower department was added in 1976 and landscape design/construction services began in 1978. Walter Rhodes died in 1992, and the third generation of Rhodes family members joined the business in various divisions in early 2000.
