British Wildlife Centre was created in 1997 by David Mills. Prior to this, at the site of the current Wildlife Center, for 30 years, David was a dairy farmer with an award-winning Vienna herd lineage, and Jersey Cow was one of Jersey's main herds. In 1994, David stopped dairy farming and reluctantly sold his beloved herd to realize his second dream of creating his own zoo. He decided to specialize in British wildlife because he felt the need to educate the public about local species and the challenges they face today in the UK's wild environment. British Wildlife Centre is sometimes asked why they are not open every day. The reason is that during the working day, they specialize in school visits and other interviews. They can focus on teaching children to appreciate and respect the UK's own outstanding wild species so that they can develop lifelong interests in their protection and survival.
