Angus Glen, a mining business person and child of the notable Toronto clothier, purchased the moving farmland at the edge of Kennedy Road and Major MacKenzie Drive in Markham in 1957 to raise their dairy cattle and champion pure breeds. They named the property Angus Glen ranch, which later developed to 1800 sections of land, and turned into their home. In 1967 they started reproducing pure breed race ponies.
